Facilities

Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club has 6 artificial grass all-weather courts, including 1 indoor court and 3 external floodlit courts, offering all-year-round tennis for players of all abilities. Our outdoor court surfaces were renewed in 2020 and 2021 and are in pristine condition. Members have key access which allows free access to play on outside courts at any time (subject to court availability, with coaching sessions and team matches having priority). Availability of courts can be checked at any time online or in the Diary and Fixtures sections of our website. With 5 outdoor courts there is almost always a court available for casual play.

Our new indoor court is managed through a booking system for court use. Members have preferential access to the court up to two weeks in advance, and enjoy preferential rates too. Guests are also welcome to book up to one week in advance.

The Club House

The well-equipped Clubhouse has Ladies and Gents changing rooms, showers and toilets, full disabled access and facilities, a baby-change station, a large and comfortable lounge area with TV, and a fully equipped kitchen with cooking as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

In addition there is a fully licenced bar offering a range of beers, lagers, wines and soft drinks and a pleasing opportunity to relax after your exertions on the tennis court. 

Social Events and Function Room Hire

The Clubhouse is the centre of a thriving social programme to accompany the tennis activity, with Quiz Nights, Music Nights, Craft Fairs, BBQ’s and other events for members to enjoy while helping to raise funds for the Club.

The Clubhouse is also available for private hire and as a venue for fitness and exercise classes, charity events, community liaison meetings, etc as well as private parties and celebrations. Please contact us for more details.
