Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club is proud to congratulate our own, marvellous Amelia Rose Symm on battling her way through a week of tennis at the National Lexus 11U Grass Court Championships held over the Spring Bank Holiday week at Frinton-on- Sea to become National Champion. Amelia went through the week unbeaten to lift the trophy and become our first-ever National Champion. Well done Amelia, and respect and thanks also to Mum and Dad Joanne and Peter for your unstinting support and commitment every step of Amelia’s path to glory, and to David Esther for the dedication, skill and passion he brings to every coaching session as he builds a stronger and stronger group of nationally-ranked junior players.

FREE - NEW WALKING SPORTS PROGRAMME

Start the New Year off on the right foot with our new Walking Sports programme. Every Wednesday between 12.30 and 2.30pm, we are offering a free programme of Walking Sports - gentle, low impact & low intensity classes for those aged 45+ who are looking for an easy and unchallenging path back to exercise, good health and fitness.

A wide range of sports is on offer to all participants, with activity reflecting demand. So whether your interest is in tennis, table tennis, netball, football or something else - we look forward to seeing you. All sessions are free of charge, kindly supported by funding from Sport England.

Shotley Juniors triumph at County Closed

Last week’s Durham & Cleveland County Closed witnessed a magnificent performance by our Juniors, competing successfully in 21 of the Tournament Finals and confirming once again the extraordinary coaching talents of David Esther and the Tennis is Served team. Our congratulations to them, and to all our other junior players who are making their mark on tennis in the County and beyond.

Over 55's Walking Sports Project launches at Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club on Wednesday, 4th September - 10.00am to 12.00pm

The Club is again partnering with Sportworks to offer an exciting programme of sporting activity for Over 55’s who are keen to either take up or return to regular exercise as part of a healthy and sociable lifestyle that combines fun and fitness.

The project has a particular target to support those with neurological conditions, with trained coaches in attendance to assist. All sessions end with a friendly social gathering over tea and coffee.

A wide range of sports is on offer to all participants, with activity reflecting demand. So whether your interest is in tennis, table tennis, netball, basketball, football, rounders, volleyball - we look forward to seeing you. All sessions are free of charge, kindly supported by funding from Sport England.
